Doing construction in streams is a difficult process.

Before you can move your machinery in place, you must divert the water flow from the construction zone by building a coffer dam.

A traditional way to build a coffer dam is to fill, tote and pile up a bunch of heavy sandbags.  This is time consuming and backbreaking work.  See photo below.

 Even when the work is complete, you must still schlep the sandbags out of the water, up the bank, back onto your truck....and then get rid of them.  What a pain.
